Evidence Based Medicine Curriculum
Our program offers a strong, weekly didactic series that develops the analytical skills of our residents, encourages our residents to read, and maintains a high academic standard. Evidence-based medicine is the backbone of population-based medicine because it allows us to positively impact the communities in which we live. It translates research and clinical trials into specific guidelines and recommendations that improves the health outcomes of a population.
Our curriculum is on an 18-month rotation and is designed to cover 90-92% of core topics in Family Medicine. Elements of this curriculum include:
- Clinical Trials Lecture Series-A monthly lecture series designed to highlight key clinical trails that currently impact our practice and healthcare.
- Family Medicine Grand Rounds-A formal, weekly lecture series targeted at both faculty and residents. Speakers come from the community, the UCSD School of Medicine and the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.
- Primary Care Grand Rounds-This lecture series is focused on Maternal-Fetal topics and issues of Gynecology. Both faculty and residents of the UCSD Family Medicine Residency Programs and the UCSD Reproductive Medicine Residency Program attend these lectures.
